The RV Crew

Well, look who finally
turned up.

Honestly, we were starting to wonder if you'd gotten lost.

Never mind. You're here now.

Pull up a chair.

The Veterans Backbone RV Crew
Brotherhood and community in the RV Crew

The bit where people stop
being referrals.

The RV Crew is the community behind Veterans Backbone.

It's where friendships happen, support continues after the boring paperwork has finished and perfectly sensible conversations have a tendency to descend into complete chaos.

It's not another service. It's not another appointment. It's somewhere to belong.

Good people. Good laughs. Good backup.

The RV Crew Charter - Rule number one: Don't be a dick

We have
rules.

Well...

Technically we have one.

Don't be a dick.

That's it.

Respect people. Have each other's backs. Don't judge somebody because their life looks different to yours. Don't deliberately make somebody else's day harder.

You don't have to agree with everybody. You don't have to like everybody. You definitely don't have to behave like you're attending a corporate team-building retreat.

Just don't be a dick.

Need further clarification?
You may already be breaking Rule #1.

Corporate nonsense can
stay outside.

Judgement

Absolutely no interest in pretending everybody's life has followed the approved brochure.

Corporate Waffle

No synergising. No stakeholder journeys. No inspirational PowerPoint required.

Perfect Lives

Nobody needs to pretend everything is fine when it very obviously isn't.

People Taking Themselves Too Seriously

Staff included.

Looking for quiet
and sensible?

If you're looking for a community full of perfectly behaved adults having calm and deeply meaningful conversations at all times...

You have absolutely taken the wrong turn.

But if you're looking for decent people who have each other's backs when life gets messy — welcome to the crew.

There is
a unicorn.

This is Steve.

Nobody is entirely sure how he became part of this. At this point, asking questions seems pointless.

He's occasionally wearing sunglasses, regularly appears where nobody invited him and has developed a worrying level of confidence.

Just ignore him.

Nobody else has managed it either.

Support doesn't finish because
one problem did.

Most support tends to work like this:

Problem identified.
Support provided.
Case closed.

Life doesn't work like that.

Housing problems can create financial stress. Financial stress can affect wellbeing. Wellbeing can affect employment.

Problems travel in packs.

That's why solving one issue doesn't mean the rest of somebody's life magically behaves itself.

We're not building
dependency.

Nobody is here to hold your hand forever.

The whole point is to help build:

Stability

Confidence

Independence

Purpose

Connection

Support changes as you grow.

Veterans Backbone community and connection

Sometimes life throws
another grenade.

You can be doing brilliantly.

Then life happens.

A relationship ends. Your health wobbles. You lose a job. A family problem appears from nowhere.

Nobody Gets Left Behind means you don't automatically start from square one every time life punches you in the face.

Wobbling isn't failing.

We don't measure success by how quickly
we close a case.

We measure it by whether progress sticks.

Sometimes the biggest difference isn't fixing one problem.

It's knowing somebody still gives a shit afterwards.

There's more
behind the door.

The public website tells people what the RV Crew is. The members area is where the actual crew stuff lives.

Private events, community notices, voting, suggestions and anything else that doesn't belong on the public website.

Members only. Nosey bastards excluded.

Not part of the crew yet?

Start with
Veterans Backbone.

The RV Crew isn't a random social club signup. It's part of the wider Veterans Backbone community.

If you're looking for support, connection or you're simply not sure where you fit yet, start with a conversation.
